When it comes to responsibility, there’s always more to be done. Today 83% of our products are already made from sustainable materials. We are 100% committed to doing better.
Here are our goals for the upcoming years:
- 2021 – use 99%* recycled or sustainably sourced material by year's end.
- 2021 – have 90% green score** on denim washes and 5% post-consumer recycled cotton in all denim.
- 2025 – use only reusable, recyclable or compostable plastic in our packaging.
- 2040 – be 100% climate positive.
*and continue working hard to reach the last 1% that we are currently working on.
**according to Jeanologias Environmental Impact Measurement tool.
Our goal is that all our materials to be sustainably sourced by the end 2021. This is an ambitious goal and it will require a lot of detailed work finding more sustainable solutions for even the smallest details. It could very well be that we reach 99.9%, instead of 100%, solely because a screw in a pair of sunglasses cannot be 100% sustainably sourced but we will work our hardest to find the best solutions so that we make our goal as soon as possible.
We are also taking actions to eliminate unnecessary plastic packaging and use 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable plastic in our packaging, by 2025. As a part of H&M group, we have a goal of achieving a climate positive value chain by 2040. What does that mean? Basically, reducing more greenhouse gas emissions than what our value chain emits.
